Collection: Chalices

Chalice corals, part of the Echinophyllia genus, are a type of Large Polyp Stony (LPS) coral highly prized in the marine aquarium hobby for their stunning beauty and varied forms. These corals are known for their flat, plate-like structure and sweeping, often meandering ridges.

Chalice corals display a breathtaking array of colors and patterns, ranging from bright neon hues to deep, rich tones, often with contrasting lines or spots. Their unique appearance makes them a centerpiece in many reef tanks. They typically require moderate care, thriving in environments with low to moderate water flow and moderate lighting conditions.

In terms of placement, they do best on the lower parts of the reef aquarium, where they can spread out. Chalice corals are somewhat sensitive to changes in water parameters, so maintaining stable conditions is crucial for their health.

In reef ecosystems, they add to the biodiversity and structural complexity. In aquariums, their distinct appearance and the ability to grow into large, impressive plates make them a favorite among enthusiasts, though they are better suited for aquarists with some experience due to their specific care requirements.
